Experts agree that being successful in college with a learning disability is possible however the student needs to have a good understanding of their disability.

We now acknowledge that children have learning differences. However what happens to those disabilities when we become adults? Contrary to popular opinion they don’t go away. Many adults with learning differences suffer daily trying to get though their days with their differences. Always fearing something that could happen on the job to reveal their challenging areas. During my research on adults with LD it was found one of the challenging times was when there were any changes on the job. For example the supervisor who had learned to work with his LD until he was promoted to director. The college professor he did well until she moved into the dean’s position. In each of these examples the one thing that happened was with the change new skills were required. Also both of these changes were very stressed.
